Stalnaker explores a variety of subjects, including architecture, landscape, still life, and the figure. She has always possessed an artist’s eye and heart, studying art since she was a child. After graduating from the University of Washington and working in the corporate and business worlds, she came back to her true passion of creating art. Stalnaker has studied painting privately, attending workshops and classes across the U.S. and abroad. Her award-winning work has been shown in the Telfair Museum of Art Fair in Savannah, GA, the Piccolo Spoleto Festival Juried Art Exhibition, the Piccolo Spoleto Outdoor Art Exhibition, Charleston Artist Guild Signature Shows, among others. She is a founding member of the Charleston Outdoor Painting Association and a juried member of the Charleston Artist Guild.

ARTIST’S STATEMENT

Usually my subject seems to choose me-an interesting roof line, sunlight illuminating a wall, a humid marsh sky, or vegetables on the table-everyday scenes that jump into my sights and demand attention. I am especially drawn to scenes with beautiful light and color, as well as interesting composition. It is my hope as an artist to transport my viewer to these special places.
