ARTIST’S STATEMENT
I have recently relocated to the High Country with my husband after traveling around the country.
I have been an artist for most of my life, going through phases in drawing, oil, pastel, watercolor, pottery, plus a longer phase as a Landscape designer. Many of those phases have been revisited, sometimes multiple times. I find I really don’t have a favorite media to work, my passion is more for color and technique and the process of creating art, and showing others that the process can be the most fun and fulfilling aspect. Some subjects strike me in one way or another, and I picture them as I would work them out. I love the focus and detail of pencil, the soft hues and flow of watercolor, the vibrancy of pastel and the flexibility and “feel” of oil.
Our move to the mountains has opened up a whole new inspiration for me. Following my husband through his Coast Guard career kept us near the coast, the ocean and beaches and most particularly the light and local color. Moving to the High Country has introduced me to new light, local color and subjects and a new technique. I look forward to more plein aire opportunities.
