I have spent the majority of my adult life living in Avery County and Western North Carolina. The natural beauty of this area has always beckoned to my artistic nature. Studing art at Appalachian State University University I took drawing and painting classes but at that time my interest was in creating jewelry. This led to a brief careeras a jeweler-craftsman and then a job in a dental laboratory. I have since then made my living creating gold and porcelian crowns and bridges for area dentists.

It is only recently I have returned to painting and I have chosen to work in pastels. I appreciate the pure color and intensity of pastels, the result is an impression that renders the true light (color) as well as the abstract light that as the artist I want to convey. The mountain landscapes where I have hiked surround me with a rich variety from which to paint. I enjoy sharing those scenes with the viewer. Though my journey as a painter is ralatively new, I look forward to the growth that every artist knows only comes with the toil and effort of ‘getting your fingers dirty’.
