ARTIST’S STATEMENT

I moved from my native England to USA in 1980 with my husband. After a career as a registered nurse in UK and in the Mddle East, it was a relief and a pleasure to have the time to pursue a life long love of painting. I began attending classes and auditing courses in design, color theory, life drawing and later Art History. I attended workshops with nationally known artists including Frank Webb, Barbara Nechis, Wolf Khan and many others. During this time my paintings have sold to buyers from all over the east coast, USA, Europe and UK and I have won prizes in several juried shows.

While it is always an excitement to sell or win and accolades for painting, the real reward is in the work itself. It is hard to describe the joy and serenity that comes from the pure act of being involved completely in painting. Currently I paint in oils, though watercolor was my love for many years. My subjects are varied but it is light, color and shapes that inspire me, as do visits to the works of the great masters, past and present, in galleries of the world both in USA and Europe.
